Cristina’s is owned & operated by two sisters, Wendy & Cristina Willis, who are both passionate about good food and strong coffee!
Both have a strong background in conservation & natural resources management, which they use to help run their business in a “green” manner.
They have implemented Buy Fresh – Buy Local purchasing whenever possible for meats, produce and coffee beans used in the cafe.
The beautiful surroundings of the Shenandoah Valley motivate them to do more than their fair share to insure future generations have the pleasure of enjoying the blue skies, mountain views and clear waters of the Shenandoah River. Menu items are driven by the availability of local in-season produce to allow utilization of the Cafe’s garden and nearby farmer’s markets. Eggs and meat products are sourced locally, as well as from a local coffee roaster. Employee Best Practice Waste Reduction Awareness is an on-going program within the cafe.
In 2009 Cristina’s Cafe became the first certified green restaurant in Shenandoah & Frederick counties.
The unique recognition serves as confirmation that going green is a good thing for the co-owners. The certification is through the Commonwealth of Virginia’s “Virginia Green” program. More info available at: www.deq.virginia.gov/p2/virginiagreen.
The Willis sisters are descendants from an ancestry of entrepreneurs. Their grandmother, mother & father have each owned restaurants and have been an inspiration and a big help all along the way.
